Dear Parents
Report cards will be coming home this month and attached to them you will find a conference request form. If you have questions about the report card or your child's progress and would like a conference, fill out the request form and return it to your child's teacher. Many parents find that the report card is clear enough and choose to opt out of conferences which is also fine.
When you get your report card, you must sign it and then send it back. We will then send you a copy. We need the signed report card for our records which we keep on file for five years. If you ever need a copy and lose yours you can call Lilliput and get one.n

END OF YEAR THINGS TO DO
If your child is not returning to Lilliput in the fall, please watch for a “Record Release” form that will be sent home by your child’s teacher. You will need to sign and date this and return it to the school. We will then put all your child’s records in their backpack on the last day of school. Bring these forms to your new school. (If you are staying for summer school, you need to leave your forms here until after you have finished).
Please note we cannot release your records until your tuition is paid in full.
If your child is returning to Lilliput next fall, you need to come in to update and sign your child's forms. The teachers of the three year olds will catch you to sign records at spree day (Bisnette, Masiello, Pasquale, and Chartier). The parents of all other children need to stop by the office sometime in May to sign and update your records if your child is returning in the fall and your child’s teacher doesn’t catch you sooner.
If your child is returning to Lilliput in the fall, or you have a sibling coming, you should have already received your “Back to school” packet listing your child’s placement for September.
If you did not receive your packet call the school and we will see that you get one.
If you do not have forms for a sibling that will be coming you can get them on our web site at: http://www.lilliputschool.com/forms.htm or call and we will send those home as well.
If your plans have changed for your child's schooling for next year, please call and let us know what changes we need to make. Lilliput gives a five percent discount when families have two or more children enrolled. I sent home the family tuition rate the week of April 26th. If I missed your family and you don’t get one please call and let me know so I can send you the discount too.
Thank you.

PLAYGROUND SHOES PLEASE!!
Please make sure your child wears shoes that are appropriate for play. We are seeing children wearing high-heels, sandals and flip-flops trying to run around and climb on the playground. We are afraid they might get hurt.
Simply say to your child, "The rules at Lilliput are that children must wear shoes for climbing and running" Thank you! ?

LEARNING TO RECYCLE AND TAKE CARE OF THE EARTH

Mrs. Twitchell's 4 year old class has been learning about recycling and taking care of the earth. Mrs. Mancini worked hard putting together a wonderful curriculum with all recycled items. For a reward for all the children Mrs. Sullivan bought a beautiful Red Dogwood tree and two Amazing Grace plants that the children planted. Next time you drive by the playground take a look at Lilliput's new trees and plants.

GREAT BOOKS TO READ
When children become 4 or 5 you can start reading chapter books to them. Reading chapter books teaches a child to become a good listener, to use his/her imagination and helps to develop listening comprehension.
Read one chapter each evening, leaving off at some exciting spot so your child can’t wait to continue. Don't forget to stop at spots and ask questions like, "what do you think might happen next?" Some nights if they beg, read two chapters. Make this a time for the whole family.
Below is a list of some of my favorite chapter books for children. Start with these and have fun. I read to my children until they were 17. We had great discussions about values and morals from the books that we read at a time when teenagers are not talking much to their parents. Plus we read the classics which some schools don't require anymore. Books like " To kill a Mocking Bird.

GREAT BOOKS TO READ ALOUD
The best thing you can do to prepare your child for future learning is to read aloud to him or her every day. Start as young as possible with picture books. At about four or five years old you can start with chapter books that have few pictures and let your child form their own pictures in their mind. Don’t stop when they begin to read! You can still read to them from higher reading level books to build knowledge and to encourage discussion.
Here are some terrific books to read to your child that even you as adults will enjoy!
